This 15-day adventure starts and finishes in Johannesburg with its extensive flight connections, and then heads into Botswana and the Kalahari desert, home to the nomadic San hunter gatherers. We then continue to the jewel of Botswana, the Okavango Delta where several optional extensions are available to see more of the park. Chobe National Park, famous for its large numbers of wild elephants as well as numerous other big game is next, before we arrive at the iconic Victoria Falls. We have some time to see the falls and do some of the many activities available here before entering Zimbabwel. Heading south through the country, you'll visit both Hwange and Matopos National parks before reaching the famous ruins of Great Zimbabwe. Our final stop is a relaxing one at the Tshipise hot springs before the tour finishes on arrival back in Johannesburg.

The tour is available either based mainly on camping in traditional 2-person tents (which we provide together with camp beds), or as an upgraded 'accommodated' version where you sleep in lodges, hotels, or permanent camps (with proper beds & facilities). DAY 1 Johannesburg to Kalahari Gateway

We depart from the bustling city of Johannesburg, travelling through the North-West Province until we reach the Botswana border. We then begin travelling on the Trans-Kalahari highway until we reach our overnight accommodation.
As the tour departs Johannesburg early this morning you will need to add at least one night’s pre-tour accommodation to the start of the tour.
The tour is available at two accommodation levels – either camping, or Accommodated, staying in a range of comfortable lodges, hotels and guesthouses.

DAY 2 Kalahari Gateway to Ghanzi

This morning, we travel deeper into the Central Kalahari to our camp in the Ghanzi District where we will meet and get to know the fascinating San people. We will spend our afternoon joining the San guides for a guided walk that will explore the myriad of survival techniques employed in the Kalahari Desert. We will learn about the different plants and animals that play a vital role in the San lifestyle.
To end off a fascinating day, we will spend our evening getting a first-hand experience of the culture, traditions, songs, dances and stories of the nomadic San people.

DAY 3 Maun, gateway to the Delta

This morning we bid farewell to the San and make our way to Maun and the Okavango Delta. We will have some extra time this afternoon for those who wish to explore the Okavango Delta via a scenic flight over the area. Afterwards, your guides will provide your will information about what is required for the Delta excursions coming up.

DAY 4 Okavango Delta

We start our day off early, travelling by safari vehicle to the poling station – approximately a 1 hour transfer. We meet the polers who will be escorting us into the Delta, taking us through the beautiful, reed lined channels which open out into lagoons. After reaching one of several islands, an optional nature walk may be taken with your poler. Afterwards, we return by mokoro back to the mooring station where a large variety of wildlife may be encountered, such as: elephants, giraffes, kudu, impala and zebra.
The guests who have pre-purchased the 2-night package, will be flown into the Delta this morning and will re-join the group on the morning of day 6. Please speak to your travel consultant or check the Options section on our website for more details of the programme for yourExcursion.

DAY 5 Okavango Delta - Moremi Game Reserve

At first light, you will be picked up from the hotel for our drive to the South gate to enter Moremi Game Reserve. As we journey through the Okavango Delta ecosystem of channels and lagoons, sightings of different bird and animal populations will become more frequent.
The game viewing routes may vary according to the professional guides, particularly when high floods are experienced as certain routes may be closed. The guests who pre-purchased the 2-Night Okavango Delta excursion will not participate in the Moremi Game Reserve drive.

DAY 6 Nata

Those travellers who flew into the Delta will rejoin the group this morning. Our journey will then take us across the Northern stretch of the Makgadikgadi Pans where we can view beautiful examples of the iconic Baobab tree. We are also afforded the opportunity to enjoy a guided afternoon excursion to the Pans andsanctuary to appreciate the stunning views and have an unforgettable sundowner.

DAY 7 Chobe National Park

This morning we continue our journey north to our camp along the banks of the Chobe River. In the afternoon there is an optional safari exploring thein 4×4 vehicles, allowing us to get as close as possible with the many elephants that hang around the river in the afternoon. We end our day with a relaxing boat cruise and meal served around the campfire.

DAY 8 Kasane to Victoria Falls

This morning we travel across the border, a short distance to Victoria Falls, after an unforgettable time at Chobe National Park. Upon arrival to Victoria Falls, you will have the opportunity to book some exciting optional activities. Victoria Falls offers a wide selection of activities to suit both adrenaline junkies and the more relaxed traveller. Choose from craft markets or a delicious High Tea at the Victoria Falls Hotel.

DAY 10 - Victoria Falls to Hwange National Park

This morning we leave the rumble and adventure of Victoria Falls behind us as we make the journey south to Hwange National Park. Hwange is the largest of Zimbabwe’s national parks and offers excellent opportunities for viewing the diversity of wildlife that calls the park home.

DAY 11 - Hwange National Park

Hwange National Park is home to the Big Five as well as a wide range of plains, game and birdlife. The guests who purchased the activity package will be picked up from the accommodation in the morning and will enjoy the day on a game drive in 4×4 vehicles through Hwange to catch some sightings of wildlife.

DAY 12 - atopos National Park

This morning we journey south towards the second largest city in Zimbabwe, Bulawayo. Our afternoon shall be spent with a local guide, exploring the beautiful Matopos National Park. As a recognized UNESCO World Heritage Site, the park includes an intensive protection zone where Black and White Rhinoceros reside. We then return to Bulawayo and our overnight accommodation.

DAY 13 - Great Zimbabwe Ruins

Our journey today takes us to Masvingo and the Great Zimbabwe Ruins. This afternoon we will enjoy a guided walking tour of this historic site. Dating back to the Late Iron Age, this UNESCO World Heritage Site was once the capital of the Kingdom of Zimbabwe. We take time this afternoon to marvel at the intricate stonework and experience the heritage of this monument to early Zimbabwean civilization.
Today our adventure takes us to Masvingo and the Great Zimbabwe Ruins where we can enjoy a guided walking tour of the historic site. DAY 14 - Tshipise

Leaving the sites of Zimbabwe behind we cross the Limpopo River and enter South Africa this afternoon. Our overnight stop allows us an opportunity to end the day with a swim in the hot springs of Tshipise.
Departing from the magical and ancient ruins of Zimbabwe, we cross over the Limpopo River to enter back into South Africa in the afternoon. We stop overnight which allows us the exciting opportunity to swim in the hot springs of Tshipise.

DAY 15 - Johannesburg

This morning we take the highway south to Johannesburg, we arrive at Belvedere Estate in the late afternoon and all travellers are invited to join us for a traditional meal tonight. This can be booked with your guide on the day before arrival. Many great tales are shared, and tonight is for celebrating the many wonders of African travel.
