Our tours

Our tours

From luxury Nile cruises to mountain treks, from ancient monument to diving the ocean depths, we have always tried to ensure that all our tours acquaint you intimately with your chosen country, and give you a unique chance to experience and enjoy the culture, environment, and activities of that country.

How to find a tour...

You can search of all the destinations and activities offered by Uncover the World, by using our tour finder, which can be found on every page of our websites, towards the top of the left hand menu bar.

Whichever way you search, you will find descriptive itineraries, maps, and highlights. We also feature extensive information on the countries we visit and the activities we offer.

Private tours

All the suggested tour itineraries on this website are run as private departures. This type of travel is most suited to couples, groups of friends, and families who do not want to travel with larger groups, or want the flexibility and personal touch that a private tour affords. You can book them as they are or they can be extended or shortened to suit your travel requirements.

Our private departures can also be tailor-made to better suit your needs, please see below. The added expense of this more personal service usually incurs a small extra charge, the amount extra depending on the season in which you wish to travel.

Tailor-made tours

The suggested itineraries on our website are designed to give you some interesting ideas and to show you what is possible, however they are just a starting point. If you are unable to find the perfect tour for you on our website then why not let our dedicated sales staff help. With years of experience in organising itineraries they can adjust and design tours to suit your specific dates and needs. They will even help organise your flights and insurance.
For some initial ideas of what we can arrange for you, why not start by taking a look at our suggested tour itineraries and reading some of our interesting features.

We often work with large groups, including schools, dive clubs and societies, so if you are an organisation, business or society looking for a tailor-made tour, please contact us and our staff will be happy to help.

Tour leaders/guides

Our policy at Uncover the World is to use only local guides and tour leaders, as we feel that this not only contributes to the local economy but also provides you with the best local knowledge available. Local guides can almost invariably give more information and bring a country, its history, culture and nature alive much more than non-native guides.  All our guides are fully trained, have a high level of English, and are experienced in dealing with western clients.  We select our guides carefully, and many have been working with us for several years. Our clients often describe their tour guide as being one of the highlights of their holiday.

What transport do we use?

In keeping with our aim for our tours to immerse themselves in the local culture and environment, when practical, we suggest the use of public trains and buses. These can provide some of the best opportunities to see the life of a country moving and working around you. We also suggest the use of private buses or cars, air-conditioned in the hottest places, where the local public transport system does not fit in with our itineraries or the class of the tour dictates more comfortable transport. Please see the tour itinerary pages for specific transport arrangements. All our suggested tour itineraries can be tailored to suit your specific requirements.

What hotels do we use?

For each of the countries in which we operate, we provide of list of suggested accommodation. Also on each suggested itinerary we provide details of the hotels used. These hotels and resorts have been checked and assessed by us and we have found them suitable for our clients. If you have your own preference of hotels please just let us know and we can happily arrange this for you.

Tour categories

In order to help you more quickly and easily decide if one of our suggested tour itineraries is right for you, we have rated each tour using the following three categories:

TRAVEL IDEAS
Our travel ideas are a convenient way to categorise the type of tours we offer. Below you will find a full list of all our travel ideas along with a brief explanation of each travel idea.

Family holidaysThese itineraries are designed with families in mind. They are usually run at a slightly slower pace with more time to relax. The guides we use are have experience working with children and know how to make the itinerary interesting but not too testing, especially in hot climates.

Culture journeysThis travel idea is a general sightseeing tour, which focuses on the cultural and historic background of a country. It is the most popular type of itinerary and aims to get you as close to the local sight, sounds, tastes and smells of a country as possible.

Wildlife safarisOur wildlife itineraries range from African safaris to Southeast Asian jungle trips to bird watching and tiger spotting in India. If it’s the natural world you are interested in then these are the tours for you.

Adventure tripsAdrenaline junkies look no further! These itineraries include trekking, rafting, elephant rides, desert safaris and just about anything that get the pulse racing and camera clicking.

City breaksUsually short breaks and weekend getaways, these itineraries are perfect for anyone interested in the many wonderful cities of the world. They are great for giving you a taste of a country when you are limited for time.

CruisesThis category includes anything to do with boats. Nile cruises, whale watching in Antarctica, rice barge trips in Thailand, traditional sailboat in Turkey are just a few of the many cruises and boat trips available.

Special interestsOur special interest itineraries are for people interested in something out of the ordinary. This could be cooking, bird watching, belly dancing, photography, to name but a few.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY LEVEL
We have rated all our holiday itineraries based on how much physical activity is included in them. Below is a full list of our physical activity levels along with a brief description of what each level involves.

Gentle physical activity ratingThe level of activity on these tour itineraries is minimal and would normal only include gentle walking, usually around sites of interest. These itineraries are suitable for nearly everyone both young and old and are also well suited to families with children.

Mild physical activity ratingAlthough still suitable for most people, including young and old, these tour itineraries do involve some level of activity. The level of activity on these itineraries is generally quite mild but may include some longer walks, sometime on uneven ground. There may also be some climbing on and off boats or up and down steps/slopes which would require a great level of physical mobility.

Moderate physical activity ratingThe level of activity on these tour itineraries is more demanding and might include short treks, longer days and more physical activities such as elephant rides and jungle walks. This level of activity makes these itineraries suitable for the more active traveller and therefore may be unsuitable for those under 18 or over 65.

It may also include the use high quality public transport like air-conditioned coaches and first class trains, and some private transport where necessary. These tour itineraries always include all transfers and fully trained guides to take you around the sites of interest. This level of tour is suitable for anyone wishing to get off the beaten path and therefore accept a lower level of comfort.

Standard comfort ratingOur standard rating is based on high quality 3 to 4-star hotel accommodation. Transportation is mostly good quality private vehicles with the occasional use of public transport where appropriate. Where public transport is used it is always high quality, for example first class trains and luxury air-conditioned coaches. We also provide fully trained guides to act as your guide and tour leader throughout the tour. This level of tour is suitable of anyone interested in a good balance of comfort and value for money.

Customer feedback

A superb 10-day tour

We wanted the best possible tour of Ancient Egypt and Egypt Uncovered provided it.

by Brisbanite (TripAdvisor Review)
The tour guide was knowledgeable and spoke good English. We upgraded to a Pyramid view room at the Mena House Hotel and woke each morning with a pyramid almost filling our view. In the evening it took on the colours of the sunset.

Abu Simbel is a must, as is Medinat Habu - and of the superior travel companies I checked, Egypt Uncovered was the only one to include Medinat Habu on its normal itinerary.

The Nile Cruise boat was luxurious, clean and very comfortable. After all the horror stories we had heard about stomach upsets we were most impressed at the standard of hygiene and the meals we were served. The food was varied, attractive and very tasty. We had no upsets and it appeared no one else did either.

We went in July when the weather is at its hottest - and the crowds and queues at their smallest. It enabled us to experience some of the most stunning sites at our leisure and without being jostled. I would hate to be in the Valley of the Kings when it's busy. Yes, it was very hot but soaking wet towels over our heads were good coolers.

We could not fault the service provided by Egypt Uncovered.
