Click here to view country map Thailand is with out doubt the most popular tourist destination in Southeast Asia. Whether it is the Buddhist culture rich in the Arts; or the sandy beaches and warm seas of the south; or the beautiful jungle scenery and traditional hill tribes in the north; or even the chaotic bustling streets of the capital, Bangkok, with its famous nightlife and modern amenities - you are certain to find something to suit your taste.
This ‘land of smiles’ has much to offer the prospective visitor. Bangkok, the capital city, it well know for its modern shopping malls, restaurants and vibrant nightlife, but its rich cultural heritage is also very evident in the many temple, palaces, museums and floating markets. Moving out of Bangkok, the ancient capital of Ayutthaya makes a great place to visit, with its intricately carved temples and colourfully dressed Buddha statues. More modern history can be seen in Kanchanaburi, site of the infamous Second World War Bridge on the River Kwai and death railway. Further north Chiang Mai makes a great base for exploring the surrounding jungles and hills and a starting point for tours to the famous Golden Triangle, including visits to Chiang Rai, traditional villages and river boat rides. To the south lie the beautiful beaches and islands that are so synonymous holidays to Thailand. There are plenty of resorts to choose from including Phuket, Ko Samui, Ko Tao and Krabi, and each has its own unique character.
For the more adventurous traveller there is a wealth of outdoor activities available. You can try your hand at scuba diving or snorkelling along the superb coral reefs, or trek into the jungle covered hills of the north. There is also climbing, mountain biking and motorcycling, or even river and sea kayaking, or some jungle rafting. Fishing, both freshwater and saltwater, is also popular, along with wildlife safaris to Thailand’s many national parks.

A review of TV programme - 'Thailand:Tourism and the Truth'.
The severe flooding in Thailand continues to cause problems for much of the north of the country, and is now impacting on Bangkok as well. We are therefore not taking any new bookings for travel to Bangkok in the immediate future, and are adjusting some of our itineraries in the north as well (for example using flight or coach transport to reach Chiang Mai as the train from Bangkok/Ayutthaya is not running due to the high water levels).
