Click here to view tour map The Oberoi Zahra Luxury Nile Cruiser continues the Oberoi Hotels & Resorts’ tradition of offering the highest standards of hospitality. The elegant interior of the large, luxurious cabins is complemented by views of the river seen through large panoramic windows. The Oberoi Zahra is the only boat on the Nile with a full-service spa, and the service and food on board is of the highest standard available on the Nile.
This is a 12-day sightseeing tour featuring time in Cairo and a 7 day luxury cruise between Luxor and Aswan. Your time in Egypt starts with a 2 night stay in Cairo at the famous Mena House hotel, right at the foot of the pyramids. While in Cairo we include tours to visit the famous Pyramids and Sphinx at Giza and the sites at Saqqara and Dashour where you learn about the history of pyramid building.
After taking a domestic flight to Aswan, you board Oberoi's Zahra Nile cruise boat, and enjoy a 7-night journey along the Nile. Whilst cruising you will visit some of Egypt’s most spectacular historical sites such as the Valley of the Kings, Karnak Temple, Edfu, Komombo and Philae temples and much more. You time in Egypt comes to an end after taking a return flight to Cairo where we include a full day city tour, taking in the Egyptian Museum and other sites.
We meet you at Cairo airport, and provide a private transfer to your hotel, right at the foot of the pyramids.
If you don't want to include Cairo in the tour, we can amend it so you fly straight into Luxor and start the cruise from there.

View websiteAfter breakfast we leave the hotel for a tour of Cairo. The city itself was founded in 969 AD by Gohar, a Fatimid army leader, El Kahera (Cairo) soon became the capital of Egypt. Later additions such as the El Azhar mosque, the Islamic University. Defensive walls and a citadel, built by Saladin in 1179, have helped Cairo to continue to be Egypt’s principal city. The short 16-year reign of Ismail (1830-1895) brought in a new period of expansion and modernisation. Areas such as Heliopolis, Dokki and Roda were added, while gardens, Opera houses, large hotels and wide, tree lined avenues were constructed. Further post revolutionary, urban expansion has left Cairo as one of the world's largest cities. Today, Cairo is a bustling metropolis, with a population of over 20 million people, a strange mix of modern and old, a unique blend of diverse cultures and a gateway into Egypt’s past.
Today's tour includes a visit to the Egyptian Museum (which houses a vast collection of artefacts from Egypt’s past, including the famous King Tutunkhamun display), the Citadel (a collection of mosques and palaces, with a great view over the city), some ancient churches in Coptic Cairo, and the Khan al Khalili bazaar (a maze or shops and stalls that offers a window to the past and a guaranteed souvenir).

We restarted our Cairo and Nile Valley tour operations on the 1st March and all our tours are running smoothly. In fact, many travellers are reporting how special it feels to be visiting the historic sites with so few other people around.
