Click here to view tour map Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and every year trekkers from around the world make the challenging trek to the top. At 5,892m, altitude plays a big factor and although the trek is reasonably straightforward, the added altitude turns this trek into a real challenge. This tour follows the Marangu route, which is the most popular route and accommodation is in basic trekking huts.
Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is a once in a lifetime opportunity for most people, and can be attempted by mountain climbers, trekkers and novices alike. The trekking trails are well worn and require not technical expertise, making them suitable for anyone with a reasonable level of fitness. Our trek includes a night in the base camp hotel at the start and end of the trek and accommodation in basic trekking huts on route to the top and all meals are included whilst on the trek. An acclimatisation day has been built in en-route which we recommend is always included.
This tour can easily extended to take in the wildlife parks of the surrounding area, including Lake Manyara, The Serengeti, Arusha, Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire.
Arriving at Kilimanjaro International Airport, we transfer you to your hotel in Moshi, where the rest of the day is free for you relax and recover from your flight.

View websiteThis morning we prepare equipment for the coming trek and then drive to the park headquarters at Marangu gate. After meeting your guide and porters, it's then a 4-5 hour hike through the forest to Mandara hut, where we stop for the night.
Fairly basic but comfortable stone or wooden A-frame, dormitory style, accommodation found on all Kilimanjaro treks.
View websiteToday is a 6-7 hour hike that takes you through the upper rain forest to grassland and Afro-Alpine landscape with its strange pre-historic looking vegetation, such as Giant Groundsel and Giant Lobelias. Continuing out onto moorland you will enjoy great views of Moshi town and Mawenzi peak before arriving at Horombo hut where we spend the night.
Fairly basic but comfortable stone or wooden A-frame, dormitory style, accommodation found on all Kilimanjaro treks.
View websiteToday is a free day to allow you to better acclimatise to the rapid altitude gains of the previous days. It is included to help reduce the effects of altitude, which can often prevent otherwise fit climbers from reaching the summit.
Fairly basic but comfortable stone or wooden A-frame, dormitory style, accommodation found on all Kilimanjaro treks.
View websiteToday is another full day trekking of between 6-7 hours as vegetation gives way to open grassland. Passing the last trickle of water you ascend to the saddle between Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. Here the landscape is barren and, with wind-chill, can become very cold, so be sure to dress warmly. You spend the night at Kibo hut on the east side of Kibo peak.
Fairly basic but comfortable stone or wooden A-frame, dormitory style, accommodation found on all Kilimanjaro treks.
View websiteToday is a very long day with a hike of 10-14 hours up to the summit and then back down to Horombo. You'll awake shortly after midnight and start for the summit at a about 01:00 hours. The ascent up still-frozen scree to Gillman's point is steep and hard going for 4-6 hours. From here, the final 1-2 hours trekking to the summit, Uhuru peak, is much easier. Standing on the summit as the sun rises over Mawenzi is a truly breathtaking sight, with views in every direction. It's like being on top of the world! From here you'll descend back down to Kibo for lunch and on down to Horombo hut for the night.
Fairly basic but comfortable stone or wooden A-frame, dormitory style, accommodation found on all Kilimanjaro treks.
View websiteToday you'll make your way back down to the park entrance and then transfer back to your hotel in Moshi, where you have the rest of the day free to recover from the hard days trekking and to reflect on your achievement.

Thanks for your help in organizing. David filled in the survey before we left and gave it to the driver. All went smoothly and our guide, Jackson, was very good. We got to see all the animals and were able to take loads of photos. Jackson was very knowledgable of the animals and the parks. He was a safe driver and was considerate of us and the animals. We also enjoyed the driving between parks as we got to see more of Kenya and how people lived. All of the accommodation was good and the same standard wherever we went. No shortage of food at meal times. The trip was well paced and just the right length.
