Tailor-made holidays in Turkey

Straddling East and West, Turkey is a country steeped in history, with a rich and distinctive culture. Greek, Persian, Roman, Byzantine and Otterman empires have all left their indelible mark on this fascinating country, and sit comfortably with an increasingly modern Turkey. Its varied countryside, important historical monuments, and a beautiful Mediterranean coastline make it a great place to explore.

It’s no surprise that Turkey is such a popular country as it is rich in history with many ancient cities and classical ruins to visit. It is the heartland of classical Hellenic culture and the ruins at Pergamum and Ephesus are fine examples of this. Cappadocia is a region of soft stone that wind and rain have sculpted into a surreal landscape of rock cones, pinnacles and ravines. Carved into the rocks are homes, chapels and underground cities and these troglodyte dwellings are one of Turkeys finest attractions today. Another popular attraction is Pamukkale, the calcified, scallop shaped basins and frozen waterfalls beneath the ruins of Hieropolis, that are believed to have been a resting place of Alexander the Great between battles. To the East is a vast mountainous region, rich with medieval forts and castles. Activities include horse riding and skiing and where tourism as a whole is far less developed. Turkey’s Black Sea coast is densely forested and dotted with atmospheric villages, and though not as warm as the Mediterranean climate, it is rich in Turkish culture. With such a large Mediterranean coastline it is no surprise that Turkey has more than its fair share of idyllic beaches to choose from, including Olu-Deniz, Side, Olimpios, Bodrum and Pamucak. Above all, the Turks are a very relaxed, warm and hospitable people and are extremely welcoming to foreign visitors.
