It has a wealth of tourist sites both natural and made-made, including the ancient Nabatean city of Petra, the Dead Sea, stunning desert scenery, coral reefs and crusader castles. Relatively short travelling distances make it a very easy country to explore and a perfect holiday destination, either in its own right or as part of a longer tour.

Most visitors to Jordan spend time at the fascinating hidden city of Petra and the spectacular desert scenery at Wadi Rum. Other great places to visit include the crusader castle at Kerak, the Roman mosaics at Madaba, views towards Israel from Mt. Nebo, a swim in the Dead Sea, and a visit to the extensive Roman ruins at Jerash. Excursions into the desert by jeep and camel are also possible and there are a number of nature reserves that offer hiking and wildlife viewing. The beaches and coral reefs around Aqaba, in the south, are perfect for relaxing, diving and snorkelling.
