View websiteOur city tour begins today with a drive along the seashore to the picturesque Pigeons Rock and on through the Hamra commercial area to the National Museum. The Museum is home to a collection of over 100,000 items, however only a fraction of these are currently on display. The museum is organised in chronological order from the Bronze age up to the present day. The final stop today will be at Martyrs Square, the old Beirut city-centre which was completely ravaged by war. Here you will discover the largest urban archaeological site in the world and witness the reconstruction taking place in the hope of restoring Beirut to it's former glory. This evening is free for you to explore Beirut further and sample some of the city's world class dining outlets.

View websiteToday we head north out of Beirut to Nahr al-Kalb or 'Dog River'. At the mouth of Nahr-el-Kalb you can find historical incriptions which immortalize various conquerors glories such as Ramses II who left no less than three inscriptions here.
Later we continue to the Jeita Grottoes. The Grottoes consist of 2 interconnected caves which span a total length of almost 9 kilometers. The lower of the two caves has been inhabited since pre-historic times; however it wasn’t re-discovered until 1836. The lower cave can only be visited by boat as it channels an underground river which provides fresh drinking water to over a million Lebanese. In 1958, Lebanese specialists discovered the upper galleries which are situated 200ft above the lower cave. To make access easier for tourists, an access tunnel and a series of walkways have been constructed. The upper galleries are home to the world largest Stalactite.
From here we return to Beirut where the afternoon and evening is free for you to visit some of the many shops and restaurants of Beirut or to take a stroll along the corniche.

Efficient throughout the booking process. The travel arrangements in Beirut from pick up at the airport and at the hotel on both mornings to set down at the airport - all very punctual and efficient. The Plaza hotel was very good and I would definitely travel with Uncover the World again and recommend them to my friends.
