Tailor-made holidays in Uganda

The East-African country of Uganda, once called ‘The Pearl of Africa’ by Winston Churchill is one of the continents remaining unspoilt and least explored wildernesses. Uganda is best known for the rare opportunity to track mountain gorillas in their natural environment in the hills around Bwindi National Park. Uganda is also a fantastic destination for those interested in bird watching, white-water rafting, wildlife safaris and chimp trekking.

Tourism in Uganda is relatively low key; however this shouldn’t put you off visiting as the current low tourist numbers make ‘now’ a perfect time to visit. Uganda’s main draw for tourists is the unique experience of encountering mountain gorillas in their natural environment. The feeling you get when locking eyes with one of these gentle giants for the first time is hard to describe and a moment you’ll never forget. Uganda’s unspoilt landscapes and forests are also home to many other indigenous animals including three of the ‘big five’ – lions, elephants and leopards in addition to chimpanzees, zebra, giraffe, baboons, cheetah and thousands of species of bird. Game drives can add an air of excitement to any stay in Uganda and this shouldn’t be missed. Adventure sports enthusiasts are also beginning to visit Uganda seeking their next exhilarating destination. Bujagali Falls in the south, offers many thrilling experiences such as; white-water rafting, kayaking, quad biking and bungee jumps, Both Murchison Falls in the north and Lake Victoria in the south offer fantastic fishing opportunities and the chance to catch the mighty Nile Perch. Ngamba Island to the south of Entebbe is home to around 40 orphaned chimpanzees that were all saved from a life of captivity and laboratory testing. It is possible to visit the island from Entebbe and have an up-close encounter with these chimpanzees.

Our suggested Uganda itineraries give you a taste of what this ‘Pearl of Africa’ really has to offer.
